This past weekend was Campus Preview Weekend at Covenant College. I went into the weekend having prayed that God would have me either love Covenant or hate it. Well, I loved it. Which I thought might happen. Actually, I almost thought I'd hate it.... I don't know why. I have always had this ongoing battle with Covenant for whatever reason. I'm kind of a rebel when it comes the the topic. It's the one school I hate and love. AH. It really is what I want in a school. However, it's going to take a miracle for me to be able to go there. $32,000.00 a year is NOT cheap (not that any college is exactly affordable these days). If God wants me there, He can easily provide the miracle needed. I'm not completely ruling out other colleges because there might be something better out there for me (which is hard to fathom right now). I'm going to continue my applications for a few other schools, but Covenant is DEFINITELY at the top of the list.

Anyway, CPW (Campus Preview Weekend) started with me arriving at Covenant at 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon. As soon as I drove up, Jillian came down to the car to help me take my stuff to her room. On our way up to her dorm, Micah met us and gave me a big hug which was WONDERFUL cause I hadn't seen him lately. Well, I had seen him a week or two earlier, but I still really miss him. Anyway, I took my stuff upstairs then headed to dinner with Jilllian, Micah, two of his friends, and one of Jillian's friends. Bethany, Jamie and Emily were there too but at a different table which I joined as soon as Jillian went upstairs to study for her Chemistry exam. The rest of the evening was filled with walking around the campus (which is absolutely GORGEOUS) and attending a TWO HOUR meeting in the chapel for all the previewers. The speakers were a little boring after a few minutes, but there were two bands that played and they were REALLY good. I seriously would buy their cd. After the meeting, me, Emily, Arthur, Jamie, and Bethany headed to the gym for Battle Ball. Which was------- dangerous. I feared for me life. Not really, but it was intimidating. haha It looked so fun though! We had planned on only staying for half of it, but ended up staying for the whole thing. After Battle Ball, we headed up to our dorms and went to sleep. Surprisingly, I got more sleep at Covenant than I do at my own home through the week. haha

Friday began at 7:30 for me. I woke up, took a shower, and headed to breakfast. I attended at Doctrine class at 10, then Chapel and 11, a Q&A session with the President at 11:45, then headed to lunch at 12:30 where I met Jamie. We had both planned on trying to go to 1 o'clock classes, but didn't even get through the lunch line till about 1:05. So, instead, we found Bethany and Emily and walked around some more. At 3 I went to an Old Testament class which I LOVED! I could seriously have sat and talked with the professor for hours. He was really interesting! After class, we walked around some more (yes, we did a lot of exploring of the campus) then headed to dinner. After dinner, Mr. Schriener had told us girls that he would take us on a tour of the tower, but he was in a golf tournament that day and he ended up playing longer than he had planned on so we weren't able to see the tower. BUT, the best of the weekend is still to come.....

Friday evening was Mountain Affair. The only word I can find to describe it is: INCREDIBLE. Seriously, Covenant College has some of the most amazing musical talent in the world. Most of the people that played (if any) weren't even music majors. I would have bought an album from every single artist that played that night. Music is definitely an important part of Covenant. Which is one of the things I love about it. Even though I'm not exactly musically talented, music is a huge part of me. I can't explain it, but it's a way I express myself. I wish I were better at playing instruments or singing or song writing or something cause there is so much I wish I could say that I can't. The music NOTES are a way I can express myself when lyrics fail. But I love all types of music... even music WITH lyrics. haha :)

After Moutain Affair, we watched UP in the Great Hall. I have never seen a group of people get so into a movie.... especially college students watching an animated movie. haha :) Once THAT movie was over, I went to watch a movie on the Chapel lawn with Jillian and a few of her friends. Everyone that I met was so cool and friendly. I saw a few people that were just NOT my type of people, but most everyone were people I could see myself hanging out with.

Saturday came and we went home. Well, for a little while. We gave Em a ride home from Covenant but instead of taking her home right away, she went to my house for an hour then we headed downtown for an adventure. We took our cameras and took TONS of pictures (as usual) and also vlogged. Which was-----funny. haha

Alright. I talked a lot. It was mostly for myself so I could have a way to remember the weekend. :) I can't wait to see where God has me in a year! Seriously, I'm excited for wherever He puts me. :D

Enjoy the pictures! :)

1,2,3,4....14,15,16, AHHH

One day, I WILL own my own kayak.

Okay. This is about THE most unflattering picture of me ever. But, Peri and I found this hat at The Knitting Mill and I thought it was adorable. haha

I love Chattanooga.....

Last week I went downtown with Peri to take pictures for a photography contest. About 10 minutes into our adventure, we lost focus of what we were supposed to be doing and started taking random pictures of random things. I was actually disappointed in how some of my shots turned out, but that's okay! I have to learn somehow. Anyway, here are just a few of the 450 pictures I took that day.

Sincerely,
Sayrah

P.S.
Unfortunately, I never got to enter the contest. :( I was so crazy busy last week with school and Covenant Preview Weekend (which I'll be blogging about next) that I wasn't able to submit my shots. Oh well, there's always next year! I think I'm going to find some other contests to enter though.... We'll see how that goes. haha :)

Okay, enjoy the pictures! :)

Sunny Sundays

the "woodsen" bahahaha
They were so into their skipping. It was actually really funny!
His face was priceless. haha
Us in the grass. Poor Hannah, her face is so swollen from her wisdom teeth. :/
I really like this picture actually. :)

Today was GORGEOUS. Seriously. I haven't seen such a beautiful day in a long time! It was sunny with a VERY blue sky and perfect little white clouds. The air was so clean and clear because of all the rain we have received lately.

This morning I went to church at my grandparent's church because afterwards we were going to help them move furniture from their old house into their new house. I thought it would be boring, but it wasn't too bad. After church we went to lunch then headed over to their old house to get the furniture loaded up. Me, Jessica, and her boyfriends, Ryan, ended up spending the afternoon in the sun lounging in their grass. Seriously, the grass at my grandparent's old house was just about perfect. Second only to the grass at our cottage in Michigan. Anyway, I took my camera to take pictures of the house but instead of focusing on pictures of the house, I took tons of Jessica and Ryan. Usually they annoy the heck out of me, but I enjoyed them today. They didn't at all mind being the subjects of hundreds of pictures. I wanted to work on portrait shots because the lighting in my pictures of people is always way off and I'm not good at focusing them. BUT, today I feel like I got some pretty good shots. :) I was really happy!

Anyway, once we arrived home, Jess and Ryan invited me to go up the road to a nature park with hiking trails and all. Instead of driving up with them, I decided to run there (only about 2 miles or so). Then, once I got to the park, we hiked down this ridge/hill (which was really pretty today) to Chickamauga Creek. Then (of course) was the hike back up. It didn't take long at all. Once we got back to the top and they drove home while I resorted to running..... again. It wasn't a long run or anything.... but it was really pleasant! The road I was running on was really familiar and straight with very little traffic. Because the sun was so bright, I ran with my eyes closed part of the time which sounds stupid, but it was really nice! It probably wasn't my best idea ever, but it was really relaxing! I'm amazed I didn't get hit by a car.... or fall. I guess I should have thought about this before I did it. Oh well. haha

Anyway, enjoy the pictures. :)

Sincerely,

Floods, Football, and school

Well, It's been entirely too long since I posted last. For that I am sorry, *cough* Emily *cough.

Life has been crazy.... and slow. I don't know how to describe it. Nothing extraordinarily wonderful at all, but nothing horrible either. I feel like I've finally gotten into the school routine. Wake up, school, school, school, come home, homework, dinner, homework, sleep, repeat. I'm still waiting for something super exciting to happen in school, but so far that hasn't happened. haha I'll keep waiting I guess. :)

OH! Something kinda cool that happened this week was a flood. A HUGE flood. It was historical (no, seriously). There was water everywhere (like there is in most floods.....). They say it was the hundred year flood.... we'll see. It was really bad! Stores, houses, yards, creeks, and everything were flooded horribly! Places I had never seen flooded in my [almost] 18 years in Chattanooga were flooded. Buildings and homes were ruined and a few people died which was really upsetting. I feel horrible for the families. Some of the stories I've heard are horrifying. Please pray for the families who are dealing with all of this.

The flooding ended on Wednesday but the creeks and rivers and all are still really full. Today we received ANOTHER two inches! I'm pretty sure I've seen Noah float by in my backyard a few times. Every time he goes by we wave at each other.
.......I don't know where that came from....... sorry.

So today I went to my first big college football game! It was sooo fun! :) I went to the Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina game. I'm not a huge fan of either but I like both of them decently. I went with Abby and her dad (who is a die hard Tech fan). The rain (for the most part) held off during the game. We had to huddle up in jackets a few times while a brief shower passed, but nothing horrible-----until the last 4 minutes of the fourth quarter.... THEN IT POURED! They had kept putting up news flashes on the big screen in the stadium warming on sever thunderstorms in the area, but of course nobody really left. haha Well, I wanted to run the other direction, but I didn't. I sat in my metal seat next to the giant metal lights high up in the air. Yeah. Safe, I know. In the last four minutes we couldn't take the rain anymore so we ran for cover to watch Tech win the game over North Caroline 24-7. :) After the game, we walked to The Varsity (in the rain, might I add) for lunch (tradition apparently). In all, it was a very fun day!

I rarely get to spend time with Abby anymore.... Last year we were inseparable but now we hardly see each other outside of school. But last night I spent the night at her house before the game and we spent the evening combining our faces with random guys faces to see what our baby would look like. Needless to say, this proved entertaining for a while. :)

I think I'm going to post pictures from a week or so ago when I hungout with Peri. Nothing wonderful, but they remind me of a fun day. :)

Anyway, This entry is chronologically VERY out of order. I'm sorry. Oh well, enjoy the pictures! :)

P.S. Emily- there's nothing in here about you cause I NEVER SEE YOU ANYMORE! School keeps us both busy, but we're LONG overdue for a Starbucks/music/Heritage day.

Peri took this picture and I think it's absolutely amazing! It had been raining and storming really hard and we were driving down Shallowford on our way to her house when she took this picture.
PERI! I think this girl is so pretty. Not just outside but inside too. I didn't know her that well until last year and now I really appreciate her as a friend. She's just awesome! :)
Peri took this picture and I really like it!... even though it's of myself..... Was that vain? I just meant it was a really good shot.... Not that I look good. Oh good grief! You know what I mean!
Us. hehehe
Well, this is a little more normal....

Swing Fest!

It's been a while since I've updated.... It's not that I've forgotten I just haven't had anything too out of the ordinary to talk about.

But, now I do! :) Saturday was Swing Fest downtown Chattanooga. I had never been before but had always wanted to go. I was still sick with the flu when I went so dancing was out of the question, but I took my camera and took LOTS of pictures. I was disappointed by how some of them turned out, but on the other hand I got some shots I was kinda proud of! Anyway, here are the pictures! ENJOY! :)
